Planning: Paperwork
Paperwork
For the first process of planning our music video, we organised paperwork before the process of filming and visual planning. We organised sheets for: Location, Shot sheet, Risk Assessments and Music Video Storyboard Timeline.
Location Scouting Report
A sheet that records our thoughts and reviews on certain location places for filming. We organised the sheets to be the same number to the number of locations we are thinking of filming. Noting down the lighting, atmosphere and possibilities.
Shot Sheet
The sheet that shows queues of shots and also a frame of what is in the shot.

Planning: Treatment feedback
Feedback
After presenting the treatment presentation to the entire class about what we are doing, it was a mixed response. Everyone loved the idea but there are pros and cons towards our work. In terms of the pros of the music video, our classmates thought that introducing a more recent music genre and making a music video out of it sounds great in terms of originality. Moreover, when we said that the genre of music has not been fully experimented on yet, it left us with an even bigger advantage because we can provide Andrew Goodwin's music theory more easier in terms of flexibility of the music video. What they also liked was how there were a variety of camera works that go well with the beat of the drop in trap music and also in terms of editing, we are able to free up a lot of space for editing making a gradual suspense in the music video in terms of quantity of editing. What our classmates also really enjoyed were the uses of colour in terms of scenery and light and they really loved the idea of the colour psychology video that we are going to use. The back story was moving and also they ideas of transitioning from reality to dreams is also a strong one.
There are many pros but the quantity of cons also left our group in making a lot of big decisions for this music video. The main con about this music video treatment, our classmates had point out were that the amount of shots that we planned and the use of settings and terminology are considered impossible for our professionalism at our age. The music video required a lot of animation and colourful edits and our classmates are worried about the final outcome of the animations and after effects, they were scared that the scribbles and other types of animation will not look legit enough like our inspired artists (Getter Jack U) and would take a huge amount of time to film and edit. Another con was the time of day that we decided to film. Our music video involves around night life, the trap genre effectively highlighted on night life. What our classmates thought was that there would be a lack of equipment within the group to make shots in the dark possible and colour grading would take too much time to do for every single scene. Shots in the dark will effect in a really blurry and weird footage if not taken at the right shutter speed and ISO settings. If the ISO is too high, the final outcome will have a decent brightness that is visible for the audience, however, the footage will become grainy as a result of a high ISO. Furthermore, if the shutter speed is too low, handling the camera will be an even bigger challenge if there is no use of a tripod or a steadicam. Footage will shake and our classmates are worried about how the final outcome might take. Third, the lyrics and visuals will not entirely follow the theory of Goodwin because of the lack of lyrics that the song had. Trap mainly rely on tunes, and the only two sentences the artist will have to sing are "faded I'm wasted" and "all I wanna do is drive home to you baby, the classmates thought that without good editing skills for the music video, having the artist sing repetitively on the screen will result in boredom because they say the same words over again.
Here are the main pros and cons of our music video, there is a lot of thinking to do in terms of when we are getting the work done, and also to edit and make animation.

Planning: Treatment Document
In order to brainstorm our ideas more elaborately, we are going to design a music treatment (music pitch) on what we are trying to achieve.
Here is an example of what the producers did on planning the music video of "Turn down for What" by Lil Jon and DJ Snake.
The treatment illustrated types of shots, motives, media intertextualities and how the music is edited.

Planning: Target Audience
Target Audience
To find out the target audience for Trap Music, I went on Yougov and searched for the target audience of two well known trap artists; Skrillex and Diplo. The profiles that show up are from the countries of the USA and the United Kingdom, and the results for both countries and both artists are relatively similar.
Diplo Fans
For the Diplo fans in the US and the UK, the target audience for Diplo would mainly be a gender of women. Compared to Skrillex fans who are men. In terms of thinking and resoning, the fans of trap music are considered liberal people. They are seen to be on the democrat, or the left wing side of ideas.
In terms of age, the target audience age group is from people ages 18-29 with an urban, city lifestyle.
United States
Statewise, the fans of trap are considered to be located on the westside of America along the areas of Nebraska to California. Skrillex fans can also be found in Nebraska.
United Kingdom
In terms of regional, fans of trap are mainly located in the Northwest of the UK for both Diplo and Skrillex.
Personality wise, fans of trap likes to discover other forms of music. They like to socialize at parties, mingle with others and also, be the individuals that stand out amongst the crowd. They are more open to meeting new people and finding a crowd with a diverse culture. Healthwise, trap fans
With all the references from YouGov of the inspired artist, we are determined to gain a target audience similar to Diplo and Skrillex in our music video "Faded 2.0". The target audience who are interested in the urban culture, urban fashion, moreover someone who is liberal and likes to discover new means to have fun, party and likes to try and experiment on substances. That way, they can relate to what we are presenting in our music video and also to interact and build a strong bond with the music video because of the first hand experience they had.

Planning: Storyboards and rough story
Planning: Story Boards
After agreeing on a rough draft of the story, we drew out a story to give us a visual idea on what it the narrative of the music video might look like. Here is the process.
Planning: Story and Concept of MV
Concept and Story
After making the final decision on the backing track that we used, we split up in listening to the song. As it is heard and seen on the youtube video, the song does not have that many lyrics, however, it has a clear change in pace and the change in thickness of drops which followed the conventions of trap music. The first plan of action were to look back to Andrew Goodwin's key points of his music video theory and follow them. For Faded 2.0, what we can really highlight on are the second and third points of "Visuals and music" and "Media Intertextuality". On the other hand, with the first point "Lyrics and visuals" we will use semiotics in addition to having either the artist singing the lyrics:
Faded, I'm wasted,
All I wanna do is drive home to you baby,
I'm faded,
All I wanna do is take you down town
Rough Story
Through the process of multiple listenings, we came up with an idea of the story. The music video will be a broken love story of a boy who has dealt with break ups, and yearns for the return of the girl that left him. The boy felt angry about his actions and decides to take matters towards the consumption of alcohol (being faded).
This is where the music video is going to start, with our protagonist walking down a dark road drunk. Then the boy faces a problem, but throughout all of the problems, there are two individuals that help him towards the road to recovery and takes him on a journey, introducing him to an alternate lifestyle that involves partying and living the high end life in order to forget about the girl and move on.
Concept
Basically, the concept circles around the ideas from the lyrics of the song and its common word "faded". As a result, due to trap music's influence with the party world and the song being all about getting drunk and the feeling of being drunk, Oni 8 decided to follow the direct meaning of the lyrics and expand on it by telling a narrative in the music video.
The narrative can be inspired by the break up narrative of movies such as "500 days of Summer", the drinking problems from "Barfly", the feeling of being on drugs from "Limitless" and the story of living in an urban culture and partying from movies such as "Project X", "Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift".
Planning: Deciding on Tracks
Planning#weouthere
After brainstorming our codes and conventions on Trap music, we sat down and chose candidate songs that are suitable to our genre. The genre that we decided on was the Trap genre of music because the genre has been part of a new genre for a couple of years and artists are in progress of writing the conventions of trap music. Furthermore, past coursework pieces that were done at my school had never presented this genre before, so a sense of individuality is upon this piece of work.
George, Ten and I started presenting tracks of favourite trap music that wanted to do. George presented the most songs and in the end, we were down to 2 tracks:

George, Ten and I started presenting tracks of favourite trap music that wanted to do. George presented the most songs and in the end, we were down to 2 tracks:
Opinions: What we wanted was a trap track that has lyrics, multiple drops and transcending feeling to the piece. Also, the song needs to be able to give a POV feel. By that, I mean where the music video is being shot in a POV position or a reverse POV where it is a motion selfie of the main character into the song. The songs must also have a feeling of love or a personal dizzy feeling to it.
What differs catch me and faded 2.0 is the tune and the way that our group can picture the story developing. We had an idea on what we wanted to do for faded 2.0 and we have a direction for it. However, for catch me, there is a different rhythm to the music and it is a pop trap, which does not follow the conventions of trap because it is considered a "popular" vibe song.
In the end, we decided to film Faded 2.0 because we have a strong direction towards the build up of the music video.

Planning: Music Video | Brainstorming Codes and Conventions
Welcome to our Music Video Project!
After weeks of researching how all the components of this year
's coursework: how to make a music video, what is in a music video. What is a digipak and the target audience of the digipak. How is an Artist Website useful? After all of the researching and a few first hand experiences of making and editing a music video, we are now able to freely start our project. This year, we combined what was left of the famous AS-Media group, ChillBroSwaggins and the AS group of George Macken, we combined the remaining members to make our new label, Oni 8.
There are not a lot of key codes and conventions to trap music because the music genre is rather new. Trap has been around the same time as EDM music, which was found in 2010 and the genre is an electronic music that is seen to have a suspense within its music, the level of chaos and the quantity of drops and fast pace rhythm increases as the duration of the music develops on, and, Trap music is seen to be played in various Electronic festivals, clubs and parties, so the style of music evolves around a frequently changing urban culture and also, it promotes the party life, alcohol consumption, drunk consumption and a rebellious and energetic vibe towards the music.
The target audience for Trap music and EDM ranges between teens to adults (16 to 25 or so). The reasoning for this is that Trap is very rebellious compared to other genres of EDM, so it becomes enticing for teenagers. Trap is also very popular in clubs and festivals, so it is also aimed for college students and above, and other age groups into partying.
Trap music goes hand in hand with hip hop culture and fashion, also known as 'urban'. This is also popular among younger people.
Trap music videos either feature a story or are abstract. In Jack Ü's music video of their song 'Mind'
Example artist: Jack U, Kill the Noise, Diplo

After Assembling our new group, we sat down and had a meeting within our group on what sort of music video we should start producing. After the process of talking, thinking of different genres and styles, we figured out the perfect genre for our music video: that is Trap Music.
The first reason as to why we decided on making a Trap music video was because of George, who is an excellent music editor and who has a really wide knowledge in the world of Electronic music and especially the genre of Trap. After realizing that, the rest of the members of the group tagged along in making a Trap music video. The second reason as to why we agreed on making a Trap Music video was that it was a genre that we all thought could be altered and twisted into our own signature style, but still following a few minor codes and conventions of a Trap genre. Our group likes being free, we like to be innovative and bring concept to our art so what we did was discussed with George (Greg) about the codes and conventions of Trap.

My timeline:
Born: 16th November 1998
Was the oldest child in the family so most of my music influence came from my mom and dad.
My first ever cassette that I listened to was my mom's. I had to listen to the 1990's pop hits in one cassette tape during car rides at the age of 3.
After that the most memorable song was Frank Sinatra's "Blue Moon" which my dad would always hum me to sleep with when I was young. Listened to that song again on CD during my childhood, around 4 to 5 years old.
2010- Got my first iPod at the age of 12.
Listened to songs like Linkin Park and Green Day. Dad introduced me to
"Limewire" to download music for free.
2013- Got my first iPhone and started caching
music via the app "AudioTube" which can cache music and save music so
you can listen to the same song over and over without loading the video again.

introduced me to Eminem. First song I listened to was "Not Afraid"
then "When I'm Gone" via youtube.

2015-16- Was introduced to SoundCloud, Spotify
and Joox to keep my music. I use a lot of Soundcloud to keep music that are not
top charts within Thailand. However, I am not able to use Spotify due to
