For this project, we used a lot of unique and different props and machines to film the music video. This can be categorized into different lists; lighting, camera, kinetic tools etc. Throughout this long project, the process in use of technology has played a major role for the production because there are certain things that were required and it needed specific gadgets to execute.
Here are the list of categorized tools that Oni 8 used to make Faded 2.0:
Lighting
- In terms of lighting, there were a variety of lights that were used from car lights, to professional 4K lights with various filter colours. Natural lighting in the late afternoon time of day was used to set some various scenes. Here is the list:
1) 4K studio Lights= creates a studio effect for the dancers. We added blue filters as well to give a cool tone to the room. Studio lights were the turning point in making the studio effect, similar to our inspired music video [Platinum].

Camera
For camera, it was straightforward; we sticked with the same camera to gain the correct resolution and quality of the footage. For this MV shooting, we used the Canon EOS 5D Mark II, a standard camera for filming. We filmed at a resolution of 30 frames per second to ensure edits that can be reduced to slow motion. Moreover, with its KELVIN white balance qualities that the camera possesses, the Mark II can adjust the temperature of the environment from warm to cool and vice versa, we accomplished this very highly when filming the studio scenes and during the late afternoon before sunset. Below is the difference between "Cool White" and "Warm white" Kelvin ratings. Most of the time, we filmed at a cool white level for the studio shooting, however for the scenes outside by the sunset, we used "Warm White".
Throughout the filming, other components were added to the camera such as:
-A microphone [Rode]
-A tripod [Manfrotto]
-Lens [Canon's 24mm, 16mm, 14mm and telephoto]
Moreover, there were drone shots as well which we used to film a moving car at a bird's eye view angle. However, at horizontal mid shot view, we used the Canon 5D attached with a telephoto lens for accurate focus as the car moves. For the drone, we used a DJI Phantom 4.
Editing: For the softwares that we used, there were mainly two editing softwares; Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro. Premiere was used to manage footage and fundamental edits, and for After Effects was used for Color correction and different effects such as the Glitch Effect and Blurring. However, for a detailed color correction, we also tried out Davinci Resolve Studio which gets the job done for detailed color listing and correction. Other than Premiere, I personally tried out Avid Media Player which is an alternate editing software to Premiere. The big difference between the Adobe Editing softwares to Avid is that Avid combines both editing and visual effects into one software, similar to a separate After Effects and Premiere. Also the minor differences would be the choice of moving the footage freely or locking the footage in a fixed position.
Inspiration: for ideas and research, we used Google, Youtube and other search engines to find inspirations for our music videos.
