Digipak: first and second grid

The Grids

In the end after assembling the first looks at the digipak, we decided to go for a 2x2 as we can produce one in real life and we have better ideas for it.

Starting off the Digipak, and looking at the template, I decided to change the colours of the template so it fits the colour of the actual digipak, being all black. The reason for this is to follow the conventions of trap music where all the sources of marketing and presenting need to harmonize together as similar media texts to create a sense of branding.

Ten was the one who designed our website and here was his process:

Firstly, since it's hard to see the borders of the all black colour, Ten changed the colour of the adverse grids to be a lighter black, however this is not too visible to the naked eye and you can only see the difference when tilting the computer screen so that the colour is brighter. Once you use the paint bucket tool or the select tool, you will be able to see the grid clearly.

He started off making the digipak by making the front cover. However since  the photos for the front cover yet, Ten only made the title and the artists name only where he downloaded a font which represents trap, being messy and graffiti like. It was the same font as the one used in the Logo. The font is called Urban Decay.

The 2nd grid located at the bottom is the place where the CD will be placed. For this, Ten downloaded a png file of CD image, made the background transparent and placed it on the right grid at the right size.

After the plannings, Ten went away to work on the details of the second grid of the digipak.  The second grid is the back cover of our digipak, for this process, it was a more simple text approach on the digipak instead of anything fancy such as transformations.  The digipak was made to look professional by making sure the texts are the right colours, the right text and the right size to make sure it looks professional and suitable for the digipak.  For this, Ten was also influenced by past trap album digipak designs where the back cover having only the label, the songs, the name of the artists and a barcode and background.

Ten tested 1 design first before changing it to the current design. The previous design had a published by on the bottom left which made the back cover irregular, so he moved it to another place which seemed suitable and in the end the final back cover ended up like the new design. The digipak also contained an added background to the back cover to give the back cover more flare. The background was a photo taken during the filming, however we didn't use thus I placed it in the digipak instead.
